Abstract:
Based on the “five Zang organs correlation” theory, combined with children’s physiological characteristics of “delicate Zang-Fu organs and incomplete development of form and qi” and the constitutional bias of “four deficiencies and three excesses”, Professor Wang Shouchuan postulates that pediatric enuresis is rooted in kidney-yang deficiency and bladder incontinence, and is closely associated with the dysfunction of the five Zang-organs. Specifically, it manifests as lung-kidney desynchrony of opening-closing, spleen-kidney malnourishment of essential essence, heart-kidney disharmony of water-fire, and liver-kidney imbalance of storage-discharge. Hence, he proposes the therapeutic principle and method of “harmonizing the five Zang organs and consolidating the bladder to stop enuresis”, emphasizing the overall regulation of the five Zang organs to enhance bladder control. He advocates tonifying the lungs and strengthening the kidneys to aid qi transformation, invigorating the spleen to nourish kidney essence, calming the heart and reducing fire to balance kidney water, and clearing the liver and dispelling heat to nourish yin essence, thereby achieving the goal of harmonizing the various organs and consolidating the bladder. This provides a theoretical basis and practical reference for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric enuresis.
